Here in Washington, DC we’re getting our first wisps of cool fall weather, and as you head north the leaves are starting to change. Since it has been a while since I’ve done one of these Honeymoon packing lists, I was inspired to pack for a romantic fall road trip.
What could be more romantic and relaxing than taking a honeymoon road trip after your Fall wedding, leaf-peeping with your lover as you drive up the coast?
I envision a vintage convertible with the top down, holding hands as you whisk along the parkway under the vibrant foliage. Lingering picnic pit stops overlooking scenic farmland. Cozy nights at the Bed & Breakfast in small New England towns, a stroll down Main Street for local coffee and to grab a postcard to remind you of these special first moments of your marriage.
Start with the basics: continue to embrace your bridal beauty with cozy JCrew Toothpick cords in bridal white. Layer up with my favorite tee, the JCrew Perfect Fit v-neck in a warm sweet vanilla, and top it off with this Ann Taylor textured sweater. With the relaxed collar and open front design, you can either wear it as a topper or belt it for a more put-together look.
I’d avoid arm candy for the honeymoon look – your new wedding band is all the sparkle your hands need! But this Ann Taylor long pearl necklace makes a nice, feminine statement and hopefully compliments your brand-new bling. Simple black and white graphic Sole Society woven loafers are easy to slip on and off as you settle in for the next stretch of highway.
Finally, of course a married lady needs a scarf to tie over her hair in the convertible. This silk scarf from Kate Spade shares your relationship updated of “Just Married” in the chicest way possible.
After your autumn wedding, I can’t think of a better way to unwind and enjoy your newlywed status. Just unplug and hit the road, mes amies! Bon Voyage!
