It occurred to me recently that I’ve shared some Wedding Wednesday posts related to our flowers (tossing the bouquet, extending the life of your wedding flowers) and you’ve seen the flowers in various photos from our big day, but I’ve never shared who actually made the gorgeous arrangements for our wedding.
If you’re looking in the greater Philadelphia area for a florist, I would definitely recommend Murphy & Klein Floral Studio. This is not a sponsored post – I just wanted to share my experience if it might be helpful to other brides on this Wedding Wednesday.
We tried to use a lot of local, small businesses for our wedding vendors and Murphy & Klein Floral Studio was no exception. Co-owned by two women in Bucks Country, PA, they say on their website that this isn’t a boutique but a real working design studio – and they’re right! We went to the studio to see a mock-up of some arrangements a few weeks before our wedding day. It is simply an old barn filled to the brim with floral decor supplies where they create floral masterpieces. They also grow a lot of the flowers they use in their own arrangements! It was a no-brainer that we’d want to support this local business by using their talents for our wedding floral needs.
We first met with Suesan Klein, and it was easy to know that not only were we interested in the business but that her personality was also a good fit for us. She took notes, prompted us with great questions and was more than willing to work with our budget. We even came back to her after the initial proposal to cut costs a bit and were able to land on just what we wanted within a comfortable price range.
I wanted to use one of my favorite flowers, hydrangeas, and the midsummer timing of our wedding was ideal for this flower. During the consult Suesan suggested tea roses in our ballet pink color as the perfect romantic accent. The berries and silvery leaves were a surprise on the day-of our wedding, but added some great texture to the bridal bouquet and standing arrangements.
The biggest arrangements were needed for a fountain in the side garden of the property, just outside the room we used for dancing. The fountain area ended up with a Great Gatsby aesthetic, with the overflowing, sun-drenched flowers that began to daintily droop as the party waned on into the night.
Overall we thought the floral touches were just perfectly in-keeping with the look and feel of our wedding. If you’re looking for a florist in Bucks Country, PA then MK Floral Studio is a great business to support!
