Today I’m beyond excited for another installment of Wedding Wednesday and my very FIRST guest bride feature. One of my new amies, Jackie of Jade & Oak blog, is sharing her wedding story with us.
When I saw snippets of Jackie’s beautiful fall wedding on her blog, I knew that mes amies had to see this gorgeousness. I love that she created an intimate event – bigger than the very small wedding she originally dreamed of, but still true to her taste. The gold details she DIY’d add a touch of glam, but the real show-stopper is that dress. #swoon.
It’s all just too good, so why don’t you see for yourself? Here’s Jackie:
Please share the key details of your Wedding Day:
The goal for our wedding day was for a smaller intimate reception where we could enjoy time with our closest family and friends. We got married on September 27, which is the anniversary of my parents and my grandparents. We wanted a fall wedding, so it was perfect that the date fell on a Saturday. Our ceremony was in a church and our reception was at a 1930s house that was turned into a restaurant.
After picking our venue, I fell in love with a dress with a vintage vibe, so that inspired the rest of our details. I wanted lots of pretty gold details, so that was the main accent color. And even though it was a fall wedding, I wanted bright dresses, so my bridesmaids wore pretty coral dresses. Oh and of course we had to include our 2 pugs in our day too – they got to come to the reception for a few fun photos with us.
Many people refer to their spouse as their “Best Friend.” Tell us about your friendship with your significant other.
Jarrod and I had been together for over 5 years by the time we got married. We had seen the best and worst of each other in those years, so we knew that getting married would just make our relationship even stronger. We can tell each other anything and I love that we can spend the whole day together, but we also have our own lives too. It’s absolutely the best of both worlds.
How were friends involved in your wedding planning, or on the actual day?
Jarrod and I are both so lucky to have amazing groups of friends. My friends threw me an amazing bridal shower with the most amazing unique gifts. I also loved getting ready with my lovely bridesmaids on the day of the wedding. I’m not used to being the center of attention so it was fun having my friends make me feel special.
Did you DIY any part of your wedding?
I didn’t do a ton of DIY’ing for the wedding, but I did do a few little projects. I hand addressed our invitations, made gold sparkly place cards and created a cookie table of homemade treats. I also spray-painted everything gold that I could – including the trays we put the place cards on and the birdcage we used for wedding cards.
What was your honeymoon destination?
We went to Maui for a week and it was amazing. One of my favorite parts of our honeymoon was that we went snorkeling. The sites from the boat were gorgeous and it was my first time snorkeling. Maui was gorgeous and I can’t wait to go back.
Jackie’s Wedding Wisdom:
Initially I wasn’t too excited for all the crazy planning that a wedding involves. But then I just did my best to not let all the little details bother me, so that things weren’t as stressful. I ended up having a lot more fun with the wedding planning and our day was SO fun. So my advice to other brides is to relax and have fun – all the little details will work out and your day will be perfect!
I love that she was married on the anniversary of her parents and grandparents – so sweet to have those generations of love as inspiration for your own marriage. Thanks for sharing your day, Jackie! Visit her blog for more of the scoop on Jackie’s intimately glamorous fall wedding day.
