Later this month we will be celebrating our third wedding anniversary(!) Each year so far we have made a point to honor our anniversary, exchanging traditional gifts and spending time together remembering our wedding day and honeymoon. Those weeks were a special time of our lives, and capturing that feeling again is important to us.
But since we live in the real world we can’t exactly take a couple weeks to jet off to the Caribbean every year. A taste of the islands will have to do , and that’s what I’m sharing with mes amies today!
On our honeymoon to Saint Lucia the resort’s bartender, a native Saint Lucian, turned us onto a drink he referred to as a “Dirty Banana”. It was our poolside preference, and the taste definitely reminds me of our honeymoon.
So when the folks behind Blue Chair Bay approached me about creating a cocktail with one of their premium rums, my choice was an easy one: Blue Chair Bay Banana Rum, to create my own taste of our Caribbean honeymoon favorite.
Frozen Caribbean Coffee is a delicious upgrade to your usual summer-standby iced coffee. I would also recommend whipping up a big pitcher for a pancake brunch, to mix up the usual boozy brunch offerings. Or, as I originally enjoyed it in the Caribbean, poolside with a good book.
- 1 banana
- 2 tablespoons half and half
- 1 shot of Blue Chair Bay Banana Rum
- 1 tablespoon Frangelico hazelnut liquor
- 8 oz brewed coffee
- 2 ice cubes
- dash of cinnamon
- Blend the banana and the half and half thoroughly, until smooth.
- Add the other ingredients and blend to crush the ice. Serve chilled.
