It doesn’t get any simpler than this three ingredient dessert! The filling just oozes delicious fall flavors. You can go crazy with the spice notes, or keep it simple with cinnamon. Either way, this 3 Ingredient Spiced Pear Hand Pie is sure to please.
Spiced Pear Hand Pie
Total time: 30 minutes, makes 4
1 package Original Crescent Rolls
1/2 cup packed brown sugar
Salt, cinnamon, spices as desired
To make the spiced pear filling, core and slice the pears (I used the Bosc variety) into 1/2 inch thick chunks. Toss into skillet with 1/2 cup packed brown sugar and cook covered until soft, uncovering to stir every few minutes. Total stovetop time should be less than 10 minutes.
Then stir in a 1/8 teaspoon salt, 1 teaspoon cinnamon, and any other flavors you wish to incorporate. Nutmeg, vanilla and pumpkin pie spice would all be good choices!
Roll out your crescent roll dough. Take each quarter (2 triangles) and pinch together to form a rectangle. Stretch the dough slightly thinner but be sure to avoid creating holes – pinch any thin parts back together.
Spoon 1/4 of the filling onto each of your 4 dough rectangles and fold the dough over. Pinch sides to close, as well as any thin parts that surfaced. Transfer to baking sheet and cook for 12 minutes. Cool completely.
While these Spiced Pear Hand Pies are pretty great on their own (or with vanilla bean ice cream!) I also whipped up a simple glaze topping, reminiscent of Toaster Strudel:
Simple Vanilla Glaze
1 cup confectioner’s sugar
2 tablespoons butter, melted
2 tablespoons milk
1/2 teaspoon vanilla
Melt butter and combine with sugar. Add milk slowly, whisking until incorporated. If it seems too runny, use less milk or add more sugar. Drizzle over Spiced Pear Hand Pies and enjoy!
